Métiers D’ Art ‘l’ Eloge De La Nature Ode To Nature’: Swan Vacheron Constantin Launches New Sparkling Products To Pay Tribute To Nature

Vacheron Constantin has been relentlessly creating new products, showing the original strength of the brand in the field of arts and crafts. Since its founding 260 years ago, it has been committed to presenting the inherent value of arts and crafts to the world. It is these craftsmanship that have created Geneva’s good reputation in this field for the past 300 years. This year, the brand used its exquisite decoration technology to launch two new extraordinary art products, which not only conveyed the noble temperament of the swan, but also added to the L’ Éloge de la Nature natural carol series.
Continuing the first three watches with the theme of praising natural wildlife introduced in 2014, Vacheron Constantin adds two new and unique works to the series, incorporating romantic lyrical poetry into refined portraits. This pair of timepieces (39 mm for women and 42 mm for men) shows the close relationship between Vacheron Constantin and Art Deco. There is no doubt that the brand has made a significant contribution to protecting those nearly lost traditions. For more than two decades, Vacheron Constantin has been committed to inheriting these skills through meaningful art creation, creating the inherent characteristics of the brand as a cultural model. As a protector of art, Vacheron Constantin has developed a complex network that can mix and match many different styles of decorative art. Just like the L’ Éloge de la Nature collection of natural carols, various decorative styles are subtly integrated. Master watchmakers and artisans have found the perfect balance between impeccable precision, refined elegance and extraordinary creative ideas, transforming classic timepieces into an original work of art.
Swans symbolize pure and selfless love
The swan glides gracefully on the crystal-clear Lake Geneva, the water splashing from the fountain slowly drops from its clean and flawless wings, and the tall head and neck highlight its charming aristocratic style. The swan’s charming feathers and wings spread freely and freely. She is always ready to embrace her lover, and the glittering waterfowl shows her angelic appearance with eternal love, showing its purity and slenderness. Vacheron Constantin applies this exquisiteness and elegance to two dials with unique patterns. Every amazing detail in the shape of the swan is fully interpreted: platinum webbed feet set with round cut diamonds, and the extended wings are delicately engraved. Carved with water waves of enamel finish. Like the conductors of an orchestra, Vacheron Constantin is happy to bring together craftsmen with superb skills to present a true visual feast. Pay tribute to Lake Geneva, the birthplace of the brand. If it was in 1755, Jean-Marc Vacheron would also admire the beautiful waterfowl in the lake through the windows of the Quai de l’ Ile loft workshop.
Collaboration between fine craftsmanship
Master of engraving, master of machine engraving, master of enamel painting and master of jewellery inlay: Four artisans cooperated with each other to show their magical powers to make this dial. To complete such a stunning finished product requires not only vision but also rich imagination. Rich and soft feathers, elegant curvy necks, sparkling long beaks, sparkling eyes, sparkling ripples, pure blue sky: every detail looks vivid, as if you can feel the breeze on the lake and the waves Soft voice. It takes up to two months to make this dial. There are always unexpected events in the creative process, which requires all participants to make every effort to overcome those hidden difficulties.
The first step is fine hand-carving on an 18K white gold base. Three-dimensional effect, light and shadow interlacing, texture, polishing and matte effects: every millimeter is carefully carved. To achieve such extraordinary quality, master sculptors need to make their own tools and use the most suitable original technology to ensure the desired effect of the finished product. After drawing the outline of the swan, the craftsman also needs to create a feather effect one by one. Sharp sculpting tools create herringbone twill for men’s watches, while women’s models are engraved with more curved patterns. The sculptor carefully created a satin-brushed texture on each feather and polished it.
The swan stretched its wings and rippled on the sparkling lake. The lines carved by the master engraving master carved the dial like a soft breeze. The master outlines fine geometric indentations on the processed dial, which means that he must carefully adjust the angle of the engraving machine to not destroy these delicate drawing. Although some carvings are extremely narrow, the tools of the masters can always find the finest corners and gaps for carving, and must not allow the slightest difference. Only a craftsman who is most proficient in this skill can reach such a precise level.
The machine-engraved carved pattern is covered with translucent large open flame enamel. The female model is sky blue and the male model is midnight blue. As always, this well-known enamel technique can only be grasped by the few master craftsmen of the true master level. After the color enamel is drawn by hand, it is heated at a temperature of 800 to 900 degrees and then glazed to create a translucent and bright effect. There are many unpredictable factors in every production process, and even before the last process is completed, it is difficult for the craftsman to predict the final result. However, once any flaws appear, it means that the entire work is damaged and can only be produced from scratch. In the end, the upper part of the swan’s wings should be painted with Limo white translucent large fire enamel glaze to enhance the gloss.
As the last process, jewelry setting is also a very delicate link. The bezel and lugs surrounding the natural scene are set with 76 baguette-cut diamonds. The graceful curves of the swan’s body are paved with round diamonds in a snowflake diamond setting. This extremely special craft provides artists with great freedom to play. Masters can choose diamonds of different sizes for free setting. Finally, the bottom of the swan’s wings also adopted a pavé process, and the shape of the feathers was outlined with pure gold gold threads. This exquisite light and shadow technique gives the swan a unique natural nobility.
A mechanical device that imparts aesthetic beauty
The 2460 G4 caliber gives craftsmen ample space for volatile creativity, and the center of the entire dial can convey the beauty of art to the widest. In order to inherit its original form and rich dial display, Vacheron Constantin retains the essence of watchmaking art, designing an ingenious handsless dial, and replaced it with four display windows, showing the hour, minute, day and date. Hours and minutes are read using drag-and-drop, and days and days are read using hour-jumping. The display windows are arranged symmetrically around the dial to make room for the picture in the center of the dial.
This self-winding mechanical movement has a vibration frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), a built-in 22K gold rotor, and dynamic geometric figures inspired by Vacheron Constantin’s iconic Maltese cross pattern. The movement is hidden in an 18K white gold case and consists of 237 finely modified parts. The transparent sapphire crystal back can clearly see the perfect structure of the movement. The Mississippi crocodile leather strap and semi-Maltese cross 18K white gold folding clasp complete the overall look.
Both of these extraordinary works are engraved with the distinguished Geneva seal. A symbol of fine watchmaking, the Geneva Seal provides certification of origin, durability, precision and excellence in watchmaking expertise for watches manufactured and assembled in Geneva. The uniqueness of this timepiece is also reflected in the engraved ‘Pièce unique’ mark on the case back.
Through the perfect combination of art and materials, interpretation of natural wildlife graphics
Vacheron Constantin not only looks forward to dialogue and exchange with elite experts in fine watchmaking through this pair of swans, but also hopes to show the brand’s long-term strength in arts and crafts and its ability to flexibly use various technologies through its new works. Vacheron Constantin, like a loyal guard, has faithfully guarded the culture of subtle craftsmanship.
